Privacy Policy

The short version: Zen Locker has no account and shows no ads, and your app choices never leave your device. The current TestFlight beta collects no data at all. Before a public release we may add anonymous, aggregate analytics and crash reporting to improve the app — never tied to who you are, and always described here first.
Who this covers
This policy applies to the Zen Locker app for iOS (“the app”, “we”). It describes what the app does and does not do with your information.
What we collect today
Nothing. The current version — including the TestFlight beta — does not collect, store off your device, transmit, sell, or share any personal information. There are no user accounts, no sign-in, no advertising identifiers, and no third-party tracking.
Network use
The current version makes no network requests — no backend servers, no third-party services — so nothing leaves your device. If that changes, this page will be updated before it does (see “Looking ahead” below).
What stays on your device
- Your profiles and settings — the names, blocking rules, and unlock preferences you create are stored locally on your device and are shared only between the app and its own extensions.
- Your app and website selections — handled through Apple’s Family Controls (Screen Time) framework. iOS represents your choices as opaque tokens; the app cannot read which specific apps or sites you selected, and neither can we.
Device permissions
- Screen Time / Family Controls — used to block and unblock the apps and sites you choose. This is what makes the app work.
- Camera — used only to scan a QR code when you choose that unlock method. Frames are processed on-device to read the code and are never stored or transmitted.
- NFC — used only to read a tag you tap for locking or unlocking. Tag data is used on-device and is not transmitted.
Each permission is requested only when the related feature is used, and the app functions with only the permissions you grant.
Looking ahead: analytics & crash reports
To keep improving Zen Locker, a future version — after the beta — may include:
- Crash reports — technical diagnostics that help us find and fix bugs.
- Aggregate, anonymous usage — which features are used and how often, measured across all users together.
If we add these, they will always be anonymous and aggregate: not linked to your name, account, or a personal profile, never used to identify you, and never sold or shared with advertisers. We will update this policy to describe exactly what is collected before any such collection begins — and none of it is active in the current beta.
Children
Zen Locker is not directed at children. It collects no personal information today, and any analytics added in the future will remain anonymous and aggregate.
Changes to this policy
We’ll update this page — and the “Last updated” date above — whenever our practices change, including before turning on any analytics or crash reporting. Because the app has no way to contact you, please check back here for the current version.
